Secure Your Travels: Insure Against Terror When You Travel

The Impact Of The Recent Terror Attacks On The Travel Industry And It’s Importance Of Travel Insurance In The Current Scenario

If you want to travel abroad, you also have to bear in mind possibilities such as terror attacks along with travel hazards now, and not just the normal issues that crop up like booking tickets, visas, and so forth. This is becoming more important now as the world has been shaken up with terrifying terror attacks recently – take the terror attacks in Mumbai for example. Thus, when you are planning foreign travel to any country in the world, you should not forget about something which is imperative, and that is travel insurance. We have still not recovered from the impact of the recent terror attacks that shook up Mumbai. Such terror attacks were unprecedented in India. Plenty of globe trotters visit India when they think about foreign travel. They don’t travel abroad to other exotic country but visit India because of its lovely tourism as well as excellent hospitality industry. However, who could have ever thought that travel hazards could appear in the form of terror attacks here?

The travel industry in India has suffered a deep scar because of these terror attacks and the subsequent travel hazards. No one wants to travel abroad and risk his or her life. The impact of the terror attacks in India is already being felt. Business travelers, for whom foreign travel is a regular feature, are canceling their flight tickets. In fact, the world is no longer a safe place to travel abroad as it used to be. Life threatening travel hazards can affect anyone anywhere. However, if we have the assurance of travel insurance, then we won’t need to feel scared about foreign travel. In the current scenario of terror attacks, travel insurance gains primary importance, especially for foreign travel.

Terror attacks are not restricted to countries like India alone. We are all aware of the 9/11 terror attacks in the US. When there is loss of life because of terror attacks, then that loss cannot be replaced, but losses during foreign travel can surely be covered, provided you have the right travel insurance plan. Today, with the rising threat of terror attacks, you can have terrorists right inside your hotel. To combat that, you can opt for terrorism insurance.

Even your best-planned foreign travel tour or travel abroad trip can get disrupted with travel hazards and emergencies. Even if there are no terror attacks, your foreign travel vacation or travel abroad trip may not be a smooth ride. Travel hazards could range from anything like loss of baggage to medical injuries while you travel abroad. You have no idea what kind of travel hazards may attack you. You may fall sick, hurt yourself, injure yourself while driving, or need medical treatment. All these travel hazards can prove to be very costly. You can say goodbye to all these problems and travel hazards during your foreign travel with the right travel insurance policy. If you choose a good travel insurance plan then you can relax all through your foreign travels. Your travel insurance plan takes care of all kinds of travel hazards. If you want to stay safe from the time you leave home, travel abroad and return back, then go for a good travel insurance plan. Many travel insurance companies in India offer travel insurance plans designed to address travel hazards and help in foreign travel. It is a good idea to weigh the pros and cons of different travel insurance plans and find out which travel insurance suits you best for your travel abroad vacation.

Get travel insurance plan that provides the best coverage including baggage loss, medical evacuation, and travel abroad trip cancellation. Now you can travel abroad in peace without any worries!

I think that you will find a great deal on Moneysupermarket.com thats where I got my travel insurance, and they actually had to pay out on my policy as I ended up in a French hospital.

My insurance was about 40pounds, and it was for annual insurance! I think from memory you could go away for up to 94 days at a time, or 17days at a time if you included winter sports.

Hope this helps – just remember to read the small print about how many consecutive days away from the UK you are covered for! Happy Travels!

Try this site for a quick quote on travel medical insurance. TravelEx allows for pre-existing conditions. —> http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

  4. Miss Teacup says:

If you had an unforseen pregnancy complication – like toxemia, they'd pay, IF IF IF the high blood pressure wasn't pre-existing, which it probably was.

If the BABY comes early, the BABY flat out isn't covered. Only the TRAVELER is covered, and usually only for ACCIDENTS.

Travel insurance is NOTORIOUS for not paying for "health" issues. It's intended, for a broken ankle kinda thing. NOT for, oh, you had a heart attack because you're overweight and had high cholesterol.

  5. WAM says:

You have to buy insurance before the cancellation. No one will cover that loss now after the fact.

Travel insurance will cover emergency medical treatment – illnesses or injuries that occur whilst you are in the USA. Health insurance is to pay the cost of non-urgent treatment that you decide to have.

There's a little shop where you can get it right before the border. Look for the signs. It costs about $30 for a day.

The government health care plan in BC is called BC Medical Services Plan(BCMSP), and their website will have info on whether or not you would qualify for it, or at least you can email to ask. Even if you qualify, there will be a waiting period of between 2 and 3 months after you apply before it comes into effect so be sure to have travel medical insurance in place during that time. If you don't qualify for the government plan, there are private companies who will sell you medical coverage. Pacific Blue Cross is one, Great West Life is another.

Go to insuremytrip.com and compare the various policies. It's the most comprehensive website out there.

  12. Usually these types of policies reimburse on non specific items based on a capped rate. You have to read the policy carefully to determine coverage. (you ask a good question though)

I usually use TravelEx. They have been great to me in the past when I have needed to file a claim. Here is a link for a free quote.

It could very well be true. Although they are different countries to where you are, we are in the UK and when we book to go to Ireland the company we book with insists on having our insurance details. Besides, as the first answerer says…they would be daft to travel without it as the cost of treatment is far more than the cost of the insurance. Accidents do happen…believe me, I broke an elbow last year, and a few weeks after that was healed I broke my foot…if I had been abroad I would have been in sh*t street without insurance!

The UK and Ukraine have a bilateral agreement on emergency medical treatment. But, she is better taking out her own insurance. All large travel agencies in the Ukraine will sell policies.

    Here are some links-
I had a similar situation- I was living in the Caymans Islands, no longer a Canadian resident, and wanted to travel for the summer. But every policy required that Canadian citizens be insured in their home privince, which I no longer have as non-resident. IMG was the only one I found, but as you DO have Canadian insurance, this will be easy for you. There are lots of short-term plans.

There are some good travel insurance companies. Get ones that pay your expenses or pay you in cash. Dont get ones that make you take another trip or give you a voucher to travel again with them.
I only buy insurance if the trip is WAY more than I can afford to lose.
Read the fine print of the policies before you purchase.
